I knew I'd have to go in there one day. I might never be seen again.

I'm back out. Mission accomplished.

I took 5 or 6 photos of the way things were before pulling wires off terminals and relays but I realised it would not be sufficient/clear information.

So before pulling each wire, I wrote down its colour description, where it terminated , and a rough comment on its routing.
There is self explanatory help in the headlight bucket by way of the colour coded power distribution board, but not all wires terminate on the board.

So, after conquering one of my worst fears (the headlight bucket) I'm going out to look for a spider.

My R100/7 seemed to be alot worse than yours but a couple 'rules' helped me heaps in re-gaining neatness....
I just re-fitted the connectors all facing the same way and that made for a lot neater installation. Mine seemed to be very random when I first looked.

Thanks Sterob, I don't think there is such a thing as "Too late advice" when it comes to airheads.

That would be sort of like saying, 'there, I fixed it'.

Perhaps what I should have done while in the bait bucket, is also fitted the new/s/hand start/kill switch I bought.

Oh well, there's always the steering head bearings to do again.......which involves pulling x wires off the distribution board in order to lengthen the loom so the triple tree can be lowered.....

Make sure test it before you fit it mate.
Your keener than me. I always buy new. I never risk S/H on that sort of stuff.
I recently got new ones from Motobins. Buying two made it worth it.

Bottom line Sterob, you're right.

However there are some safer second hand purchases out there that are claimed to have been tested, appear to be in very good condition in a photograph, and come with a guarantee to work.(selected participants only )
German Ebay.........where there are a lot of quality parts with many of them obviously not very old.
Motobins are very well priced on most of their gear compared to Munich.......

Jeff, next time you plan on getting in there to do some work, get a hold of one of these..it's called a MacGills forcep.



It's especially good at putting the connections back on where two fat fingers find it crowded. Using the forcep, the connection can be placed where it should be, then pressed on well with an extended index finger. It does make it so much easier.

If any of the Oz Boxerworkers are planning some headlight wiring work, feel free to ask to loan mine. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye open for any that are trashed at work.

A different approach Steve, I usually use 'force-ems'

I do sometimes use my fly fishing hemostats for such jobbies.
Although this time I used long pointy nose pliers.
