Re: Cylinder stud length question
There's an oil way at the top of the top two stud holes, you can just see it when the studs are installed. It just peeks out at the end of the threads in the block. I was putting the engine together on my new R90 and had to get a torch to convince myself they were actually there. They're the reason ...

Re: Lightened flywheel
Ahh. Well, at least you know where you stand now. I did notice that motobins have flywheels on sale for 40 pounds... Not sure if they're for 8 or 9 tooth though. It'd probably be cheaper to get a new one lightened than the old one repaired. P.s. Your flywheel looks like a photocopy of mine. Did you ...

Re: Lightened flywheel
Install the new starter and try it out? You could de-bur the fly wheel first. I wouldn't think there's any point in changing anything till you know it doesn't work.

Re: Lets play piston identification this time!
I thought short barrels too but I measured the new set of stock barrels and they're the same length.I guess that leaves longer rods as an option?! Seriously, I'd love to know the history of this bike. I'll get some time later this week to get a few more bits put together. While I'm at it I'll spend ...

Re: Lets play piston identification this time!
Custom heads? I couldn't say. If someone's got a stock head that they can measure then I could check. I put the two pistons onto a single pin and yep, sure enough, the '90s' pistons are about 2mm lower at the edge. I put a barrel and piston on and moved the crank to TDC, this had the squish band (is...

Re: 74 R90 – bar mounted master cylinder – how to
I converted my old 90/6 to twin disc with bar MC just before I sold it. I never did get it bled properly, could still pull the lever to the bar. I used a 1/2" master cylinder from memory. I don't remember all the details but I think 12mm was suggested for dual discs. 1/2" was the closest I...

Re: Lets play piston identification this time!
Yeah, the 336 info sheet suggests milling 0.4mm out. There's a lot more than 0.4 out of these pistons!

Re: Camshaft Identification
just checked the 336 cam and it's .05 out of round at the oil pump end. I'll take it to a local engine shop and see if they can build it up and true it. If not... 308 cam I guess. Or just use it as is.

Re: Lets play piston identification this time!
Just checked, theses barrels are also over size. The valves are 42mm and 40mm. *looks on interweb* So the valves are standard.
