Re: R90/6 having engine issues
Figured out what was causing the idle to be so high. I set the throttle cables too tight. Which makes sense that the idle would jump when I was backing the bike out of the garage. I originally thought it was the slope that caused it, but it was the turning of the wheel that pulled the cables tighter...

Re: R90/6 having engine issues
I do have a timing light that I borrowed from my brother in law. Never used one before aside from yesterday just to peek into the viewing hole. Have no clue how to read it though. I assume you want to see the S inside the window, but not sure if it's supposed to line up like the OT or just bounce ar...

Re: R90/6 having engine issues
I think for now I'm going to check for any vacuum leaks before or after the left carb. Double check the throttle cables and slack. Do a proper warm up and ride for a little while. Adjust idle screws after warm up, one cylinder at a time. Then get baseline settings for jets. Zero everything out and s...

Re: R90/6 having engine issues
Finally had some time to go through the bike. Cleaned the right side carb and adjusted valves. The intake valve was tight, so I set everything to .006" intake and .008" exhaust. Checked plugs, wires and coils. I started the bike and pulled the left plug and the bike kept running. Connected...

Re: R90/6 having engine issues
Thanks for all the responses. I'm mechanically inclined and have worked on my share of cars and motorcycles. All modern though. The reason for not wanting to really tear into things is due to time. The first time you go into things it always takes long as you're both learning and making sure not to ...

Re: R90/6 having engine issues
Thanks everyone for the replies and welcoming me to the forums. Sorry for the delay in getting back. I'm an architect student with little free time. As of tonight, the bike is back running! I checked the levels in the bowl and the fuel level was fine. The float bowls were super clean as well. I didn...

R90/6 having engine issues
Hello everyone, I have a 1974 R90/6 and it's been acting odd. I need some help in problem solving. I took a week off from riding to go on a trip. Came back and set off for a ride. While riding to my destination, the engine lost power and started to bog down. I pulled over to check things, and everyt...
