New Camshaft 1977 R100 swap?
Hi Guys, The camshaft on my project bike (R100/7) has been modified (read butchered) by having the weights welded onto the end as the thread has been broken off. Replacement cams appear to be made of rocking horse poo so I ask if I can replace with a newer camshaft even if that means using a differe...

Re: Heat damaged heads - repair or replace?
Hi fellows, I have since found out that the tubes in the heads I referred to are actually called protection tubes in the bmw parts book. I'm going to order some this week if they are still available. The pushrod tubes fit to the outer section of the jugs as you described, the protection tubes contin...

Heat damaged heads - repair or replace?
Hi fellows of the brains trust, My \7 project has bumped another submerged object that I hope you help with. /7 engine teardown surprise
Hi Fellows, I'm presently stripping the engine from my R100/7 and have struck a little snag. Original double row cam chain is in place, puller is being manufactured for the crankshaft sprocket. Problem is the camshaft bearing housing is retained with a Philips head screw on one side and a slotted he...

Re: U-joint Dis-assembly
I had access to a 50 ton press when I pulled mine apart. The 5 ton press I had at work would not budge it. And yes it did sound like a rifle when it let go.

That would have been much better. like I said butcher not enthusiast.
I have seen crank triggered ignition systems but they took the place of the alternator - racing use only.

Re: Alpha Ignition for 70-78 airheads?
No good for me! I need a crank triggered version for my /7 as the previous butcher, I mean owner, broke the thread off the camshaft and welded the advance assy to the end of the camshaft.
Unless some one here knows where I can find a new or good condition r100/7 cam.
