diode board wiring

I took my diode board out and forgot which way the wiring goes back together. On the back side there is a cluster of 3 wires, green, red and black. Those I know can only go on one way on the board. Now I have a blue wire left over and I don't know where it fits because there are 2 spade terminals. T...

rear shocks

Where is the best place to look for rear shocks for an R100RT 1981? I need shocks that will carry a passenger plus gear.
I live in B.C. Canada. I am also looking for rear shocks for a 1971 Norton Commando. Thanks, Dick Vandevelde

Re: Engine Rattle

Just between this RPM range, 2800 and 2900 RPM under load or not. The noise is in the left front of the motor.

Re: Engine Rattle

I don't know the history on this engine, I do change oil every 5000 miles. 20/40 oil. The transmission was rebearinged twice. I've checked all those things that might be loose, all are tight. It sounds like its in the left front of the motor. The book shows a chain tensioner and a plunger and a spri...

Engine Rattle

1981 R100RS Engine Rattle
This rattle only happens between 2800 and 2900 RPM. Bike has 300,000 plus Km. on it. Could it be the timing chain? Dick V.

Re: Clutch / transmission input splines

I have a GS 2001 with only 85000 kms on it. The clutch spline stripped out and also did major damage on the input shaft. So I replaced them both and re-lubed them. I found it quite low kms for that kind of a failure.

Re: severe pinging

thanks for your comment Softee. This bike does not limp home, it has lots of power so that mode has not kicked in if it has it. The problem only happens when trying to pass a semi or something. I talked to a BMW manager and he said the motor has too much carbon; does not make total sense since it pi...
