Re: R75/6 not picking up

Right. Updates. I swapped the leads, still attached to coils, just on opposite side. No change in cylinder firing. Next I swapped carbs, after putting leads back over, still no difference in cylinder firing. Finally, I changed plugs around, three different combinations, no change in cylinder firing....

Re: R75/6 not picking up

So I swapped the plug leads over so the coils were attached to the opposite plug, the same side still wouldn't fire. Used different plugs as well. Is this telling me that it is nothing to do with my coils/leads/ignition system? What next then? Valve clearances again? Compression test? Bloody Bings a...

Re: R75/6 not picking up

So I tried to run the bike this eve, it would only run on one cylinder again. Both carbs attempted to pick up, both together and tried seperately, the slides attempted to rise but bounced as the bike started to stall. I tried to raise the slide manually and turn the butterfly as suggested but this d...

Re: R75/6 not picking up

I have replaced the points with an electronic ignition kit and a reg/rec instead of the diode board. Whilst the timing isn't perfect if is starting and no adjustment will make it throttle

R75/6 not picking up

i have been working on an R75/6 over the past couple of months, it hadn't run in 10 years but I finally got it through the mot. The bike was running really poorly but I did reach 80 mph on it, the carbs hadn't been balanced and I thought one was having a lack of fuel. I stripped both carbs separatel...

Re: Bing carb needle replacement problem

The video was all straight forward, thanks for that. The problem that I am is having is getting the bloody clip seated correctly at the bottom of the tube, it doesn't stay in place then slips round and won't hold the needle

Bing carb needle replacement problem

I decided that I would give my R75/6 bing carbs an overhaul, purchased new o rings etc as well as needles. I jumped straight in and replaced the o rings, I had stripped the carbs before so sort of knew what I was doing. When I came to the needle change I was in new territory. I figured that the need...

Re: R75/6 ignition points problem

The electronic kit that I have is the Siemens one from motorworks, it has to fit onto the end of the cam. I am hoping that there is enough thread there to hold it on securely!

R75/6 ignition points problem

I have been restoring a 1975 R75/6 and had problems with a lack of spark. I investigated the points and found that it was over tightened and the advance unit wasn't moving properly. I removed the unit and found this... http://i62.tinypic.com/5v8yfr.jpg It looks like the end of the cam been stripped ...
