Re: "The Wave"....downunder
There can't be many traffic maneuvers anywhere else on earth that warrant their own coffee mug. http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx330/wockawocka/mug.jpg I also believe that there are videos of it on the interweb somewhere. Cheers Ray ps the back of the mug says that we've been doing 'hook turns' ...

Re: "The Wave"....downunder
G'day Bob, I'm with Charlie and Steve - the 'nod' is the go. But there's also the 'nod and turn': as your head's going down you also turn it a bit to one side. A bit like when you're saying "Damn right!" I find riders who wave a bit disconcerting as I always think it's someone who knows me...

Re: Circlip
While we're talking punctuation (forget circlips and motorbikes for the moment) I've always wondered if Finnegans Wake should have an exclamation mark or an apostrophe. And if it's an apostrophe did we just miss the funeral or are we talking about what follows him?

Re: Circlip
I can't be quite sure about this but perhaps and 'e-clip' is actually called an e-clip as distinct from a circlip. They are two different beasts. But I was quite proud of my use of 'single quotes'.

Re: Circlip
I'm with Major Softie: there is no 'right' use of single or double quotes. It seems to be regional but even then there is no consensus. If you need to put a quote within a quote it is usual to use one form to open and close the main quote and the other form for the included quote. Back to circlips. ...

Re: Australian story
There must be something in the water in Wangaratta (where Doug, the subject of the doco, lives) as it has more than its fair share of interesting motorcycling people for a town of 20,000. Barry at the 'Vintage Motorcycle Swap Shop' should charge to get into his business - it's as good as a motorbike...

Re: Australian story
G'day blokes, I've met Doug a few times. He brought a couple of bikes to the 'Classic Motorcycle, Lawn Mower & Rotary Hoe Show' I was involved with years ago. He often pops up at motorbike events around here. He's an, um, interesting man. He's ridden millions of miles all over the world and has ...

Sorry dougie, you're right. I saw the word 'drive' and got overexcited. Brain in gear first next time. Ray

Re: Monolever final drive...
I haven't done one but a friend did. He used a uni joint from the steering column of a DAF truck. Was still going strong years later when he sold the bike.
Cheers

Re: Hunting trip
The helicopter on Mt Hotham could have been cutting down trees. No, really. Have a look at this: http://www.bordermail.com.au/news/local/news/general/helicopter-at-cutting-edge/2028303.aspx I rode over Hotham in the week before Xmas and, sure enough, there were lots of trees with the tops cut off. I...
