Thanks for the replies. Great stuff Ken, I have some work to do. I have owned the bike since 12/09/2001. They haven't been looked at since I've owned it....maybe 4 tire changes. I'm a bad bad bad man.

I have read on this very forum that velocity stacks with a Shure SM58 windsock straddling them seem to be as good as any..George Ryals wrote:I bet there is Sears shop vac filter that will fit!

Yes, it does matter, but me thinks since you're a gearhead like the rest of us.....oil changes were done religiously and you cleaned the K&N more often than not. That pretty much takes care of the air filter debate, unless, of course you use an SM58 pop filter (windsock) instead...YMMV

My brother and I have used Star Tron for a couple of years now. It works great. He has a side by side and a couple of four wheelers at his cabin in northern AR. They ARE better than open-stacks as far as screening out small Children and Dogs! On my Norton Commando I am running screened-Stacks with oiled-Microphone-Windsocks (Shure SM-58) on them as I think the filtering properties are at least as good as K&N's (plus they look better, are available in c...
