Re: Head Retorquing
I think a lot of stud pulling out problems is because folks don't understand that you have to loosen the nut you are check before re-torquing. They just eventually pull out.

Re: Side stand extender recommendation for /5
I use a Browns with no problem. I kept the original on as well, on uneven pavement it can be useful.

Re: Better than an oil thread...
Hard to argue with your choice.
But ...if a mint blue touring tanked R90/6 with a proper dual front disc showed up I would really be tempted.
I prefer the heavy flywheel of that generation.

Re: Odometer rolled over again
What kind of obsessive compulsive behavior does this represent?
Ask him how he performed warranty work on this bike, stripping a cylinder head off another bike in the friggin' showroom.
He wasn't even working at the dealer!
Something seriously wrong...or right with this guy.

Spark plug caps
1984 R100S
I had a spark plug cap fail.
It was the original.
I replace with OEM parts.
My idle has gone up from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm.
Your thought on why this happened, with no other changes to the bike, other than an oil change.

Re: Issues trying to find the correct exhaust/header system for my bike
Airheads are usually quite muffled. But the boxer engine can really sound beautiful with the right exhaust, and it doesn't have to be loud.
I've been thinking of a set like this.

Re: Breaking News - My Breaks Dont Work
How are you brake lines? With age the rubber lines can break down inside and rubber bits can come off and cause problems as you described. If the lines are old change them along with a master cylinder kit. Don't take shortcuts on breaks! Replacing these parts is routine maintenance.
