Re: Looking for a 90 degree battery lug

Are you sure that the wire is 3/8" ? That is a large wire for a motorcycle battery cable. However, bigger is better. I would probably make the middle one work by cutting off a few strands. Duane...it's not used as a terminal end for a wire. It's used to hold the spark plug wire in place. The r...

Re: Looking for a 90 degree battery lug

:? Krauser used a battery lug to hold the sparkplug wire tight to the valve cover. I have one of the originals, but I can't find a replacement anywhere and the Krauser spares vendor has them listed as NLA. Has anyone seen one like this out there? I has an open end for the wire to slip through, I ca...

Re: 1951 R68

More than one aftermarket producer in Germany made "sport fender" that were exact, or close copies to the R68 fender. I never had a "real" fender to compare. If you find old copies of Das Motorrad you will see the large number of ads for items to "hot up" your BMW. One...

Re: 2005 R1200ST starter failure

I have a 2005 R1200ST with 18,000 miles which I bought in 2007 and recently had a starter failure. I don't get to use the bike very much and normally put 1,000 miles per year with 20 trips per year. The bike is well maintained, garaged and is kept on a battery tender. I had a starter failure and ha...

Re: First time poster, and was hoping I could get an opinion

Something I haven't mentioned is that the cast "snowflake" front wheels used from 1978 on are generally 2.15" x 19" ...the stock tire sizes were the same, but the tire profile was slightly wider due to the wider rim. That's why the /7 fender mount is wider than the one on the ori...

Re: First time poster, and was hoping I could get an opinion

The stock size for your bike is 3.25" x 19" front and 4.00" x 18" rear. S11s are not available in the proper size...they are only available in metric sizes. Metric to inch conversions will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer...with some, a 100/90 is close to a 3.25" ...ot...

Re: First time poster, and was hoping I could get an opinion

I've done a bit more research and I found out the 74 has a particular problem even with the 100/90 by 19 tire. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658765 Apparently there are some variations within manufacturers even though the tires are "standard". I think that by getting the...

Re: First time poster, and was hoping I could get an opinion

I'll try a 3.50 and see how that works. Hopefully my aluminum wheels may experience a bit let bashing. A tire that is too wide will not protect your rims any better than the stock size...perhaps less. Think of the sidewall and how it absorbs the forces. An oversized tire will have a sidewall profil...

Re: Mixed Feelings

But while we are on the subject - I will be spending awhile at high altitude. What do I do to the carburators to make them happy. The bike was very hard to start cold above 8,000 foot Here is a start: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-TVImfyOsc0Q/T1El-_JbrjI/AAAAAAAACCs/imbnyqRBViY/s800/2399_altit...
