Re: Dancing mechanical tach
Hmmm, I'm thinking it's in the engine case where the tach cable ends....is this off the camshaft? Does anyone have any experience with the gear drive system down there, or is it some kind of mystical Germanic Hobgoblin only definable by visiting their spirit world? Anyone got a schematic? Not for th...

Re: Questions of riding western Canada
Riding western Canada is awesome! Their mountains are bigger than our mountains! The glaciers are different colors! I like Canada, eh? The folks are so friendly, the accommodations first rate, even in the campgrounds. It's a very clean place. You'll first notice the Canadian drivers are, uh.....craz...

Dancing mechanical tach
I've got a dancing tach on my 77. At idle it's fine. Once moving on tho, the needle dances like crazy, all over the face, 2- 3K increments. After about 20 minutes at speed, it seems to steady up but still dances @ 1K or so... Replaced the cable. Swapped out with a good known tach. Same/same. Anyone ...

Re: R100RS top speed.
Yeah, the RS should do over the tonne. My 77 with 33/11 just does 115 mph by GPS indication, tucked in and down. By the speedo I'm doing over 135!!!! Woo Hoo!...........................uh, I mean just over 55 officer, I swear! This machine is older than you with over a hunnert thousand miles on it, ...

Re: sealing up a leaky cylinder head
Here's what I posted last October. It works well. I use no base gaskets, and I hand beveled my 78 block to accept Nikasil cylinders. Re: Cylinder base oil leaks Postby RDG » Thu Mar 03, 2011 5:42 pm I've tried the Yamabond, 3 Bond, the this, that and the other thing. Best sealer I've found was Perma...

Wheel bearing seals?
Anyone have parts numbers for the '77 wheel bearing seals (spoke wheels). How about the '78 snowflake wheels? And/or a good source for same?

Re: Telix fork brace how too?
Both my Airheads are running Telefix' and they're sweet! Installing is easy once you have done the homework of straight forks, no stickchen, etc. It helps if you loosen the fender mount bolts just some, to allow the proper spacing after the brace is pulled tight. Take care the brace is seated fully ...

Re: Cylinder base oil leaks
I've tried the Yamabond, 3 Bond, the this, that and the other thing. Best sealer I've found was Permatex Sealer, it's brownish and stinky! A machinist insisted this was the only thing they used on aircraft engines...But what sold me was he used it on his racing BSA and no leaks? NO LEAKS? I saw it f...

Re: 77RS hard start!
Yeah, thanks to all for the information...How very kind. It's all duly considered, entered in data banks and information kiosks wherever moto information is needed/wanted/regaled. I think the problem started with the gel battery I installed 5+ years ago. It didn't have the cranking power of the clun...
