I just replaced the chain and crank sprocket on my '81RS (55K). The timing mark was very wiggly.
Wrench told me it probably wouldn't change the mark.
He was wrong.
The timing mark is now very easy to see!

It was the notch being off one, these later bikes are a learning curve for me.
Kinda wish I had the old system with two cables. Dog nose what I'll have to do for cables if I go with Mikunis or Dells...

1981 RS 40mm carbs Installing a fresh updated throttle tube/cam. That's all in and good and done. When adjusting the cables I have to get adjust the bowden way out to get the slack out of the twist grip. The knurled adjusters on the carbs have to go all the way in (down) to the nut to get any slack ...

.The 2 brown grounding wires that connect the engine cover to the diode board go on the TOP diode posts

I can see from previous pics theat the ground wires go to the top diode mounts on the diode board behind the top nuts...could this be the F-up?
