Re: New front disc and pads for my ST... what torques ?
While we're talking about front discs, has anyone tried these: http://www.wemoto.com.au/bikes/bmw/r_65_rt/85-88/picture/disc_front_kyoto/ They tell me that they will fit on the original carrier and that it is just a matter of removing the bobbins and replacing them with the new ones supplied. Any th...

Re: OZ get together this Spring?
Just back from dropping in on the happy campers at the Blue Duck. Everyone seems pleased as can be. The weather is fabulous, they scared off any other campers, the river looks great and the roads are in excellent condition. And the bikes all went well. Bumped into Steve and Grant at the Omeo pie sho...

Re: OZ get together this Spring?
I can confirm reports of the pie quality at the Mitta store but you will be missing out horribly if you don't try a sausage roll as well. I have been known, on more than one occasion, to make the 200 km round trip just to have one. I believe it is physically impossible to eat one of each in a single...

Re: OZ get together this Spring?
I'm a very reliable person Charlie, so you can pretty much count on me not joining you yet again. I don't really have the gear or inclination for camping, but I am pretty good at talking bullshit. I used to help run The Beechworth Classic Motorcycle, Lawnmower and Rotary Hoe Show. Our advertising li...

Re: OZ get together this Spring?
Yes indeed 'What a small world our massive mountain road network is.' I was on the Corryong road on Sunday but clearly didn't bump into you. In fact we barely saw anybody. We did the Corryong/Tumba(bloody)rumba/Jingellic/Granya loop and in 400 kms only had to pass two caravans and a truck. And, no, ...

Re: Odd tank leak
Thanks for the advice and tips. Despite negligible soldering experience I went down that path and seem to have had some success. Because of the awkward position a wire brush wasn't going work very well so, to get down 'behind' the bracket I made a soda blaster (cost: some plastic tube and $2 of bica...

Re: Odd tank leak
Thanks for the replies. I've had a look at the welds with a loupe and can't see any cracks so they must in the 'inside' of the bracket. I'm guessing that means that welding won't help. Putty doesn't seems to be a long-term fix so I like the idea of flooding it with solder.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Odd tank leak
1986 R65. I've had a small amount of petrol running along the seam on the bottom left side of the tank for a month or so. I assumed it was either the seam or a nearby rust hole. I finally got around to taking the tank off today and found that it was neither. It appears to be something to do with the...

I tried fishnets and they just weren't warm enough.Airbear wrote: Ray, I will presume you found out about the pantyhose shortage because you needed them for the cold too.

Re: Staying warm ?
Bubble wrap down the front of the jacket works for me. Just a variation on a newspaper and keeping the wind out but also very useful for wrapping bottles of wine in the panniers. I doubt if it will work as an airbag though. Every winter the army used to send blokes to spend a week playing in the for...
