Re: 1971 BMW r75/5 SWB--which pistons & rings do I order?

Duane! I remember you were most helpful back when I was figuring out my front end wobble, if my memory serves me... I spoke with a guy at a shop in Red Hook in Brooklyn called Moto Borgotaro (he mostly builds custom cafe racers out of old BMW's) and he tried to start my bike for about 45 minutes (re...

Re: 1971 BMW r75/5 SWB--which pistons & rings do I order?

Thanks for the helpful replies. Anybody know where I can get a set of jugs for this bike, and how much they would go for? In order to avoid boring the cylinders. Basically, the bike has no compression (35 psi on the left, 75 on the right) and I want to fix it for as little as possible. I'm assuming ...

1971 BMW r75/5 SWB--which pistons & rings do I order?

Hey there, I'm about to order pistons and rings for my r75--I was looking here http://www.bmwhucky.com/007511.html But I wasn't sure if I needed the 82.475 or the 82.485, or what those numbers refer to. Furthermore I was wondering if there is any cheaper place to buy them, or any other suggestions. ...

Re: Hello again folks, a long story and one question.

Well, the gentleman withdrew his offer, stating that the mileage of the bike was too high for his liking and that he was no longer interested. So now I'm stuck with this bike which is giving me hell. But that's ok, I was dreading parting with her anyway. Hopefully you guys can help me solve some of ...

Re: Hello again folks, a long story and one question.

Glad to hear that I'm remembered, good to see you Steve and Tim. Sounds like I should go for the trade I've been offered (a nice, running, ducati monster 600 from 2001). If anybody has any idea where I might find old archives from the forum, I'd love to look over my old posts for nostalgia. I have m...

Hello again folks, a long story and one question.

Long time no see. I survived. I can't seem to locate my old user name, so I've just created a new account. Hopefully at least one of you will still remember me so that I don't seem entirely foolish-- I'm Henry, I have a BMW r75/5 from 1971. I posted on the boxerworks forum a lot when I first purchas...
