Holdinfg the float up with your had puts more presure on the needle than the float will so it may shut off the gas. The float needle is soft on the end and the trash could be sinking into the soft stuff. Put the float in a small bowel of water or gas and see if the float sinks or . Search the web fo...

Trash in the float neddle seat is most likley the cause of the leak. I would replace/check the neddle and then blow out the seat. Bings are bad about overflowing with trash in the seat. You could use a Q tip and brasso to polish the seat.

Chey, If the carb just started leaking don't mess with the floats. Don't even think of replacing the neddle seat at this point. Verry seldom are seats replaced. It is not simple job. Try what has been sugested here and I think your carb leak will be solved.

I had a leaking carb on the left side. I agree with most things said her. I would use a Q Tip and brasso to clean the needle seat and a pipe(Smoking Pipe) cleander to clean the upper part of the seat. Replace the needle with a new one. Jeff, whitch formula of Star Tron are you using. I see there is a Small engine and marine formula as well as an Enzyme and Gasoline formula.
