It saves alot of time and trouble is you lay the brake drum flat on the table and block the rim up the dimension of the offset. Start with spokes finger tight so as not to lift the drum and alter the offset. If you do it carefully the offset will already be established when you're finished with the ...

I've always used liquid dish soap - wet the inside and slip it on. When it dries it sticks the grip in place

I think BMW used a host of different aluminum alloys - I find that my cylinders and heads stay very bright after blasting but the cases and covers turn dingy. Several of the other parts have some zinc in them and when I blast them they the allow turns so hot it blisters. I think this time I'm going ...

I'm in agreement with Steve - I've had several Airheads and oil heads along with other brands and stepping down on the tang helps lighten the load.
If you go with a side stand, get a Brown's, they sell them new at Max's

That trend has been going on for awhile and it's puzzling. If your bike is complete or nearly complete and worth X amount of money, just strip a bunch of parts and cover off of it (sell them on ebay and make money) and then advertise it as a cafe bike and all of a sudden it's worth another grand or ...

Every book shows it differently and some with repeated upgrade parts in line with the originals - very confusing. Your small washer is actually #40 called a 'gasket', it replaced the copper washer and is the only true crush seal. It goes on the bottom of #29 and pinches between it and the bottom cap...

I recently did mine - the large white plastic goes radius down, the small white plastic pushes in the bottom of the fork tube just inside the threads.
