Re: 76 R90S headlight circuit board
Thanks everyone for the help. There is no green-red colored area on my 76 R90S circuit board. I put it all back together without connecting the green red wire... left it hanging. Everything works. My 76 R90S wire diagram says anything green-red connects to the headlight or taillight and both are wor...

Re: 76 R90S headlight circuit board
Thank you, Tim... My circuit board looks just like that. And I see that there is no area colored for a green-red wire. On my wire diagram, a green-red wire is for a headlight or taillight. Even those this wire is not connected to the circuit board, all lights work properly. I guess it is not suppose...

76 R90S headlight circuit board
Does anyone know where I can access a diagram for a 1976 R90S headlight circuit board on the internet? I was checking grounds on my circuit board which all look ok, but I noticed that I have a green-red wire that is not connected. I suspect this is a brake light wire that may have come off a connect...

Re: Advance Unit/Centrifigal Governor
Removing the new one and putting the old advance back on would be a way to find out whether it was the advance unit or the Dyna III rotor screws. However, it is good enough for me to know it was one or the other and that the problem is corrected AND I am going to use the new advance unit anyway. The...

Re: 1976 R90S Misfiring/hesitation
Last week I posted this topic about hesitation/misfiring that I was experiencing on a 1976 R90S. The motorcycle was breaking down between 3000 and 4000 rpm at slow throttle increases, but running great at full throttle all the way up through the rpms. Based on Duane's suggestion that I put my strobe...

Re: 1976 R90S Misfiring/hesitation
Major Softie... you may be right about trying to work with the old advance unit, but it is 36 years old and kind of corroded. And the best part is that any NEW parts I put in this machine have a lifetime guarantee... I am 68 years old. And ME109, I don't have the answer to your question, but I am go...

Re: 1976 R90S Misfiring/hesitation
Tim... I removed the advance unit. It is properly greased, but one of the arms rubs a rough area as it opens and closes. I just ordered a new one ($250... gold plate?) and am looking forward to trying it out. I have a long list of what this motorcycle problem is NOT. Soon, I will have replaced every...

Re: 1976 R90S Misfiring/hesitation
Gentlemen... Thanks so much for your insight. After reading Duane's site about advance unit problems, watched the weights on mine as I increased the rpms. I could see some blips in the weights repositioning rather than spreading evenly as rpms increased. I suspect I should get a new advance unit and...

Re: 1976 R90S Misfiring/hesitation
Thanks Duane...
Will go to your website now. I did use the strobe light on the advance as I increased the throttle. What I saw was a blinking strobe light as I heard the engine doing its misfire/hesitation thing. The advance arm that opens as the rpms increase seemed to be opening smoothly.
