A friend of mine had the same issue with his oilhead gs. As I recall, after a lot of worry, he found out that it was perfectly normal for the bike to exhibit the tranny noise when run in gear on the centerstand. Can't remember the reason(s). That bike has over 100,000 on it now with no transmission ...

I have used it in my boat engine for a couple of years. Recently took the carbs apart and they were super clean. I am thinking that the startron had something to do with it.

I am trying to decide whether or not to replace the shoes on a 91 GS. The existing ones (original ones, I think, as they are dated 9/90) still have about 3.5 mm of lining , which is fine according to the manual (it states a minimum of 1.5 mm). I am just wondering if it would be necessary or advantag...
