2015 Autumn Boxerworks in Oz
Re: 2015 Autumn Boxerworks in Oz
Good to hear from you Mal. Have you got any 2-3 day period where you'll be in the vicinity post Tassie? We will need to settle on some dates and a spot to pitch a tent and bs a bit!
Cheers, Steve

Mal, I can order you a rear tyre from a bloke in Wodonga. He recently supplied, fitted and balanced a Pilot Activ 4.00x18 for me for $140. My third PA and I love 'em. Will need a few days lead time so let me know if you want to go this way.Mal S7 wrote:...
The local shop reckons they can't get me a tyre unless I order 3 at once! May have to find a shop in wagga or albury en route, or else order one online from Geelong and fit it meself, I don't think I have time for that.
Looking forward to catching up with anybody thats about. Talk soon Charlie.
Cheers
Mal
Don't worry about your cam chain. Jeff just likes to break new ground by breaking his RS in new and innovative ways.
ps: I recall your local tyre shop.

G'day Steve. Re a location for the gathering, Pete and I did an overnight stay on the Dargo River a few weeks ago, just a few kms along the Upper Dargo road. There are some superb camping spots with lots of flat, soft green grass and the usual facilities. We then went to Melburg via Maffra, Trafalgar, Noojee etc - a pleasant run with little highway involvement. For us northern Mexicans the run via Mt Hotham and the Dargo High Plains Road is good fun. Just a thought.SteveD wrote:Good to hear from you Mal. Have you got any 2-3 day period where you'll be in the vicinity post Tassie? The Cold Flame rally was good, and we had adventures on the way out. Jeff's RS spat its cam chain and needed to be towed out by Brother Ken (on his GS), using some blue Telecom approved rope, then trailered home for the autopsy.
Bugger!.. a busted cam chain is pretty uncompromising!
It happened to me in another life in 1970 at the end of 3 months in Spain and North Africa, riding my (up until then) trusty Honda CB 175 on the last leg from Paris to Calais on a freezing February Sunday morning when kerlunk!! and then nothing! I was broke and dependant on getting back to London to sell my bike to release enough cash to survive till the plane home.
There was no Ken on his RS .. so my only option was to push the bloody thing back to the last village where I'd noticed a Honda sign. Monsieur proprietor and his family took me in and looked after me like the prodigal son and that began the most memorable part of my trip.. spending a week helping in the workshop waiting for my replacement cam chain to turn up, tinkering with Honda stationary motors, picking up and delivering to the farmers. This was all done by gesture and barely embryonic long forgotten high school french.
It was a great experience and shattered all preconceptions about the French.
No pics, unfortunately!

Great story Doug.
Charlie, that plan sounds pretty good. How far north of Dargo?

I think we all deserve an adventure like Dougs.
I get off the ferry at 6:30am on EAster Monday in Melbourne. Plan to take the great ocean road to Portland to catch up with a friend. Head back East-ish on Wed the 8th. May go see a Cousin in Bendigo. Apart from that no plans but need to be back home by Sunday. A get together with any or all would be great!

Gidday
Mal - The Great Ocean Road and Easter traffic F#@K mate your a true adventurer my friend!! I don't think Bear Grylls would even tackle that continuous slow bumper to bumper line of traffic, you'll miss out on the views as you stare at the rear brake lights flashing off and on of the 4x4 in for of you for hours on end..

Hmmm Never thought about that thanks Grant. Do you reckon they would be all going the other way, back to the big smokes, by Monday?grant81rs wrote:Gidday

What about an overnight get together in the Vic mountains somewhere on Saturday 28 March? I plan on being at Charlies anyhow but if I took an extra day I could get to Wodonga for a tyre on Friday ....SteveD wrote:Good to hear from you Mal. Other than that its
Thursday 9th, Friday 10th, Saturday 11th April.
Any takers?
