advice on changing headlight bulb 1995 R100RT

Post by Gian4 »

Hi Folks
Just thought I'd ask some advice before proceeding. I know how to change the bulb in my R75/5 but I'm not sure about the procedure in the RT. I know how to remove the fairing glass cover but not sure how to access the bulb from there. Do you remove the chrome ring like the /5? Is it a pressure fit or attached with a retaining screw? Or is there some other trick to access the bulb? Also what replacement bulb would you recommend, stock or a compatible ie plug and play up grade? Thanks for your help.

The earlier TS models have a screw at 6 o'clock that releases the chrome ring/headlight from the headlight housing. I'm guessing it's unchanged though what's inside isn't quite the birds nest it used to be.

Just in case, as some aren't aware, the glass and rubber can be removed together by lifting each of the 4 inner corners and removing the retaining screw.

It's been a while since I went into the headlight bucket, but I do remember that you have to remove the ring. If my memory serves me correctly, the screw is a little hard to get to. I believe it's at the 6 o'clock position as previously noted.
