Hi! Thanks for the welcome and the great feedback!

I've learned a bit more about the bike: The owner did some work in 2006 and 2009, rebuilding the carbs (including replacing the floats), installed new coils and a battery (then took it for a short ride, I assume). However, he still didn't drive it much (only added 11 miles since 1993!). Hopefully the carbs won't need work. Inside of tank looks good. I had to remove the fairing in order to get it through the door to my workshop. No sign of any furry little stowaways yet!

I bought all the new fluids the other day and intend to change everything (oil, trans, rear drive, brake fluid). Going to empty and flush the gas tank and install two in-line fuel filters as a precaution. Will then ride it a bit and change out the oil and brake fluid again. New tires are definitely in order before riding it too. I'll lube the spline while the rear wheel is off. Then see if anything else develops. I'm in Michigan, near Detroit so I have a bit of time before its riding season again here.

That's a real nice bike Mr. Bugs.

If it were mine, I'd lose the barndoor Luftmeister fairing ASAP. I had one of those on my '78 R80/7 and it was just too big and heavy for it. It was very liberating to take it off. Sold it on Craigslist pretty easily too.

I have no doubt that you are correct Kurt. In my previous post, I should have said, "Well it looked like a lufty to me".

Still a barndoor that I would remove immediately if it were my bike. But that's just me. Me no likee giant fairings.
