Napoleon bar end mirrors
Napoleon bar end mirrors
I was wondering how many members were running these mirrors on their airheads. I just recently acquired a used set and after ordering new rubbers inserts I was wondering if there was a method to keep the nut from spinning when tightening the fixing/compression bolt.

Re: Napoleon bar end mirrors
ZM, I don't have the new inserts yet, they are on their way from the UK. It's the typical type where a rubber insert is expanded, nut on one side, bolt which applies pressure from outside. Replacement nuts I ordered are flanged with serrations.
During my shopping did see a unit that had pins on the flat of the nut that went into holes on insert, that would keep it from turning as the expansion bolt was turned. Unfortunately, looks like the replacements do not have this feature.

Re: Napoleon bar end mirrors
I have Napoleon bar end (baren) mirrors on 2 bikes, but neither are Airheads ('75 Honda CB400F and 2007 Ducati S4RS).
On the Honda, I used the Napoleon rubber mounting. With the Ducati, the rubber mounts didn't fit in the handlebars, so I used the split nuts that came with the factory bar weights.
I've not had an issue with the end nut spinning. Just tighten it up so it's tensioning the rubber, but not compressing it enough to have difficulty inserting it into the bars.
I have another set I'd like to use on an R90S, but I'm having problems with the length of the bars. The bars may have been trimmed and don't reach the end of the grips. I have new set of bars and will try to swap them out and re-try using the bar end mirrors, as I really like the visibility they provide.
