I have an 87 R80 RT mono shock and I need some fairing parts. There is a local person selling a RT fairing from an 1983 twin shock. Does anyone know if the 83 can be mounted on the 87 I checked and know that the part #s are different but that may or may nor mean it cant work any and all feedback would be welcome

Re: R80RT fairing
A parts use check on the BMW parts list suggests that the fairings are interchangeable throughout the 'RT range.
Early fairings did have a different arrangement for the adjustable screen but I think that only applies to 1979 models and, on some early lower fairings, the panel wasn't split to allow removal over the exhaust pipes (this also means that the lower support brackets are different) but again, I think that changed very early on, in fact I'm not sure that this wasn't limited to 'RS models.
You may find some minor differences (e.g. the centre grille on thy '87 is made of thermoplastic but on the '81 machine it is of fibreglass) but nothing that should stop you using the earlier fairing.
