Mine had the riveted ball system....but I cut it off in favor of a homemade version. I actually cut the whole lever off, as the angle was not ideal for my set up. The ball joints are cheap and easy to find (mcmaster-carr).

gearbox lever question...

Nice job.Frog wrote: a homemade version.

The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: gearbox lever question...
I have this one, bought from Justin B, a couple of years back. It was half the BMW cost, posted to Oz.

It is a quality part, but the bolts were a little wider and needed a slight reaming of their respective holes to fit.
Stainless, does the job and is very sturdy.

Riveted ?
Riveted ? Ain't seen such. Not on any "stock" linkage.
(That won't mean that it's not out there ...)
In any event: Get rid of that junk and put a proper linkage in it's place.
If BMW prices scare you, go to McMaster-Carr and get some good Heim joints ...
or whatever hardware might work.

Unfortunately, Justin is out of the linkage-making business. At least for the time being.SteveD wrote:I have this one, bought from Justin B, a couple of years back. It was half the BMW cost, posted to Oz.
