Every manufacturer produces the next model year in the latter part of the preceeding year. Why is it so hard for BMW owners to understand that BMW did the exact same thing?
A bike built after the fall factory holiday is the next year's model. What is so hard about that?

Model year
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
Re: Model year
I thought they built & shipped the entire world's inventory on January 1st! They don't?

It's simple Duane. A lady does not like to state her age.Duane Ausherman wrote:A bike built after the fall factory holiday is the next year's model. What is so hard about that?
My bike turns 30 this year.
I'm not sure whether to take my RS out for dinner in September when she was built, or January 1st when she was 'born'
I know I'll get it wrong.

I can only hope she remembers all the expensive gifts I've bought her.
If my wife reads this I'm up shit creek!

I dunno ME 109. I don't know much about ladies (or lady BMW motorcycles) but I'm thinking that they want to believe that the gifts were given out of pure love. And pure love doesn't expect a return on investment, as it were. It makes it sound so as if they were bought.ME 109 wrote: I can only hope she remembers all the expensive gifts I've bought her.
I'm thinking she would appreciate a 6 pack of that super premium oil that you don't think is really needed. And a tender polishing session might also be a really good idea.

That sounds alright Ken. The oil I can get, but I'll need to see if I can find some paint in between the stone chips.Ken in Oklahoma wrote:I'm thinking she would appreciate a 6 pack of that super premium oil that you don't think is really needed. ..........I still don't know whether to do it in September or January 1st.
See Duane, quite complicated really.

Re: Model year
I thought it was August 1st. Typically, new models would come out for September, meaning that retooling, resupply, etc., would happen during August.
