Answer to my e-mail from Bel-Ray -
"Doug,
Thanks for writing in.
Bel-Ray High Performance Fork Oils are fully compatible with each other
and can be mixed to get different weights. To get a 7W from a mix of 5w
and 10W you mix 15% 5W with 85% 10W.
Thanks for using Bel-Ray Performance Products

So the concept is good, but the math is tricky.
fork oil options?
Re: fork oil options?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: fork oil options?
At least that solves half the problem - using Robtg's link I was able to get 7.5w with around a 40/60 split, broadly in line with Bel-Ray technical advice that you need more "heavy" and less "light" in the mix if you want to get between the two viscisities.dougie wrote:Answer to my e-mail from Bel-Ray -

Re: fork oil options?
I bought some inexpensive 7wt off the shelf at a local shop last fall. I'll find the bottle and post the brand.

Re: fork oil options?
Funny...I take the Bel-Ray numbers and plug them into the link given previously, and I get a 9wt oil. Oh, well...

Re: fork oil options?
thanks for the answers. I wasn't sure if the ones that Haynes was stating were really the only options or not. I'll pick up some 7.5 and try it out.
