/ 5 Fuel Tank

Hey guys - just wanted to know if my 71 75/5 fuel tank is aluminum underneath the paint?

Stock was steel.

Thanks - I was at the office & was thinking about it. Trying to get ideas of how I want to possibly customize.

I thought a /5 was a custom.

FWIW – K-brick tanks are alloy.

Yeah garnet - that is the type of tank I as referring to. Anyone know who may supply these type of fuel tanks?

Vanzen has a nice tank on his Old Cro project, http://boxerworks.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=906

There was a guy in France makeing then for BMWs but the cost was huge.

Search: " BMW aluminum gas tank " –
A number of craftsmen & shops out there who offer BMW specific tanks,
and even more who hammer alloy that may be willing to negotiate a deal.

Bring your big purse, though,
beating alloy is highly skilled work (for good product),
labor intensive, and not cheap !

CRo's tank was built to my specs by Evan Wilcox.

Here's one by Tottimori with a K-brick tank:

K-brick tanks are dirt cheap ! But will require some hands-on or $$$ to fit, etc, etc,
