Can anyone ideentify this shock absorber /

In a reservoir, it's probably nitrogen. I think, if you remove the protective cap over the valve, the valve may tell you.

nope.. valve may look the same, it's nitrogen.

That's because it's not. The shock he is linking to still doesn't have the reservoir yours has, but it may have changed over the years. If so, it's going to be much harder to figure out.

OK ,I found a bit of text on a label on the underside of the reservoir ...I missed it last time I looked :oops:

It's in Italian and English . At least I think it's Italian ...

Does that help ?

Perhaps it's an Italian aftermarket bit ...!!!

I emailed Shocktreatment and go the following response ....

I would not be so sure that the shock isn't standard. It would appear to be
either a Boge or a Marzocchi, both of which have been supplied as standard
on BMWs.


Marzocchi sounds right with the Italian text under the reservoir .Has anyone ever heard of Marzocchis on an R80 :?:
