RHS ATE Caliper brake line pipe

Post by sterob »

I have heard rumblings that these spares are no longer available from BMW.Motobins and Motorworks do not list them anymore.( The L/H side one is still available, apparently) The BMW spares business in Perth that I use sometimes, still have them for sale at $45 each (ouch!) I'd like to stock up on them ( buy 3) but at that price its crazy money.
Has anyone is Oz found them for a better price than that recently? Surely Munichs aren't the only ones that have a stash of them?....lol

If you are talking about the solid steel brake line and not the flexy part, just measure and bend a straight one available from you friendly local auto part store.

Thanks Tim. I have never seen steel brake lines in our local auto parts store but I will investigate and see what I come up with.

Yeah, maybe....lol

After I posted, I remembered about Sherlocks and they still have them listed. I email them and check to make sure they can actually get them.

They come straight, so they are probably in a tube / display if they have them. Remember, there is a specific tool for bending them, sort of a lever with a disc with a groove in its edge. Pliers don't cut it for this job, can't have any kinks or pinches...

Standard auto brake lines can be bent by hand by gently pressing them over something that has the same radius as the bend you want, like an exhaust pipe.

Make sure you get plastic coated lines, and take in a sample as there are a couple of different metric threads and flare styles.
