First the failure, I'm changing handlebars and I needed new grips so I attempted to dye a NOS pair of white GranTurismo's black but they have been soaking in Rit-dye for a couple of days now and they have gone from bright white to Gray/Tan/Brown.

Now the success, the Wolfman Luggage peak tail bag fits my OEM rear carrier very nicely. It was $110.00 and it's made in Colorado!

Yes, they are gone, next up is a nice Wixom Ranger fairing (black, striped). I will get pictures of it tomorrow.

A bottle of Lincoln Leather Dye will probably work for the grips. It is "Old shoe repair shop scent in a bottle". As a matter of fact, it smells exactly those older refillable felt tip markers. It must be the same thing. I think you can get it at some shoe repair shops.

It's still not going to dye rubber grips. It may lie on the top (like the markers you mention) but it won't last and will end up on the gloves.

It's not the same stuff as those markers, but it may contain some similar solvents.

The only thing I can think of that might really work relatively well is the black plastic dip for dipping tool handles in. I don't know if it would increase the thickness too much, but it would probably stick and last a long time.

I think Dennis Kirk has those grips in black for rea$onable.

I am confused....why would you bother to dye grips? They are not expensive and there are lots of options available....in Black.

I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY can not and will never run Chinese grips! I run German and British bikes and the parts MUST be "right", I like the GranTurismo grips but the black ones are rare as Hen's teeth (Dennis Kirk has the "short ones" and they won't work). I went with "plan B" and bought a pair of "Johar Classic Road Grips" (American-made, foam).

The stock Magura's have no shape to them and they hurt my hands and since I am putting on new handlebars anyway I needed new grips.

As I sit here typing this I am wearing American-made:
Shoes (Vermont), socks (Wisconsin), shorts (North Carolina), drawers (Kentucky) and a t-shirt (North Carolina).
