EPCO Stainless Steel Mufflers Stole my MONEY!

Post by Phillip »

Hey guys, BEWARE of EPCO Stainless Steel mufflers in Germantown Ohio. Here is my story. I ordered mufflers from Tom at EPCO on March 3, 2011. Here it is May 10, 2011. He has not sent my mufflers. He charged my debit card $926.35 in March. After 15-16 phone calls and numerous Emails, I was not getting any results. I sent Tom another email and called him to cancel my order that he would not fill. I told Tom I wanted a refund. He told me HE DID NOT HAVE ANY MONEY TO SEND ME???? I have filed charges against him and EPCO with my debit card company and my bank. We all work hard for our money. Please do not let EPCO do this to you. PLEASE BEWARE OF EPCO!!!!!

Only a maggot will take money from someone knowing the money will be used to pay someone else's bill.

That's why I keep one regular credit card for such purchases. It's much easier to get your money back on a contested charge.

Post on a few more forums - enough hits and your topic will go to above his web site on Google, and that usually brings some action.

ADV Riders has a huge readership, and any other Bike forum the guy makes muffler for would be a good start.

Or just hit it a couple of thousand times yourself--------.

Hello, I am new to BMW motorcycles. My brother and I are working on a 1984 R100CS LE. One of the items on the wish list is a set of Epco mufflers. When I saw this post today I decided to join tis forum and provide some information.

Phil,
In your post you said you sent money to EPCO in Germantown PA. From my earlier research on line I found that EPCO was bought out by Staunless Ride.

I believe Stainless Ride is located in Florida.
When I enquired about exhaust systems in november of last year I recieved a reply from Shareef Hassan.

Shareef said "Stainless Ride has acquired EPCO at the beginning of this year. The video might be a little older. Same product, same technique, same quality. We are hoping to achieve better customer satisfaction."
I have no ties to EPCO or Stainless Rides. I just felt compelled to share what I know about the company. Please follow up in your post to let the rest of us know if you do get either your mufflers or money. I want to buy a set of their mufflers. So I am very interested in the results.

Thanks,
BOBH

Scroll down to EPCO and read #9. That was my story.

I am not prone to bad-mouthing people unless they really deserve it. In the case of EPCO -
Grade A1, gold-plated, card- carrying sleazeballs.
I got nothing but evasion, lies, bullshit, and exhaust system parts (those I actually received) so badly made that they were laughable.
It bothers me that they can behave the way they do and not be shut down.
What worked for me was lodging an official dispute with VISA. I think online merchants don't want to lose a credit card facility.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Did he have a reason as to why he hadn't shipped your pipes yet? Back in the early 90's I ordered a 2 into 1 from Luftmeister. I kept calling them (no email back then) and getting all kinds of answers. On my last call a women told me they had stopped making my pipes, told me to get some Mac pipes, and refunded my card. Later I found that Luftmeister had actually gone under. The Macs are still running strong. I hope things work out for you soon.

I have been considering a set of epco's. Change of mind, thanks.

Anyone used MAC muffs? They are pretty reasonable in price.

Any problems with fitting stock head pipes?

I too got taken for a ride by EPCO. they didn't charge me but I placed an order about 4 months ago, continually checked in on it and got the (wait 3 weeks) routine. I eventually told him to toss my information out. It seems that EPCO is done. The guy can't make the pipes anymore because one of his machines broke.

Does anybody have any other suggestions? I need to get a set of raw header pipes (not polished or chromed). I plan to send them to Jet Hot to get coated.

Epco was familiar with prepping the pipes properly which was why i tried to place an order with him.
