Hold onto your R100RS!

...'cause if this thing sells, then yours might be worth a little more'n you thought.

Somehow the line "tell 'im 'e's dreamin'" comes to mind though.

Not too sure about the exchange rate - but $13K sounds quite a bit even in AUD.

Was the RSR a special Australian model?

USD13650 or UKP8450!
Yes, a colour scheme with badge just for Oz. They loved painting them "special", sticking a badge on and keeping the price up. Black, with red and white striping, and a couple of badges.

Now the John Player RS, that was special!! To my eye it is the loveliest RS ever, approaching the vaunted Daytona Orange R90S in lovely.

In the case of the RS advertised, it's hard to tell the quality because the photos are small and from angles that don't show much of anything. I would want some side shots, showing the whole bike, and allowing the eye to go over the bike and pick up any flaws.

At 13K AU$ dollars, which are about 6% larger than US dollars, the bike looks way overpriced. But I guess to an Australian buyer, with airheads pretty thin on the ground there, if he wants a pretty black RS he's not likely to see another for sale any time soon.

The bike is low mileage, but it's not unused. I don't see the low mileage as being even close to making up the difference between what I think the bike is worth and what the seller hopes to get.

Personally it looks to me like the seller is "trolling". Who knows, maybe there's a sucker fish out there who doesn't know the value of the bike and will bite. Or perhaps has a 6 or 7 figure income and doesn't care. I know if I had a million extra bucks I'd buy the prettiest Daytona Orange R90S that I could find.

Mine is black. If I change the pinstripes to gold, do I have a JPS ;) ?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Well, you might want to turn it back to a RS first . . . .

And convert to a twin shock frame, swingarm, and forks . . . .

And paint your new snowflake wheels gold . . . .

Oh, and I think there are some impossible to get John Player decals . . . .

My advice, keep that '87 RS to S bike, buy any twin shock airhead, and convert it to a JPS and only ride it at night.

Also, we're gonna need a looooong thread as you document your work going from before to after. Plus, throw us a bone or two and ask a few questions--even if you already know the answers. And finally, when it's done, invite us up to see it and offer us an assortment of beer from Canada's finest microbrewrys.

Veg will come to drink the brew for sure, even if he gives you no advice at all.
