Brake shoe casting #

Post by pkboxer »

Just making sure that I'm correct. The Number inside the circle on castings (in this case it's front brake shoes) is the year of manufacture?

I have 3 /5 brake plates, the shoes have between 71 & 73 on the various shoes.

So, they're all original?? Or close....

The number inside the circle is the year of manufacture. The little dots around the number will tell you the month of manufacture. E.G., if there are six dots around a "73" ...the part was made in June, 1973.

Thanks, I was pretty sure that it was the year. I had no idea about the dots being the month.

Thinking I could benefit from some newer brake shoes. Maybe something from the 80s....
