I just bought a set of Wixom bags from a chap with a couple of airhead projects on the go.
One had an Enduralast alternator and ignition system on it.

He liked it so much he phoned John and asked for another EnduraSpark for his Bosch alternatored /5. He was told that the EnduraSpark will not work with the Bosch alternator as the magnetic field from the stock alternator interferes with the magnetic pickup for the ignition. BUT, EME has been developing an optical pickup to use with a stock alternator and would he like to try it, some fiddling about required.
He jumped at the chance and has it installed and working. He had to do some minor machining to fit it properly under the front cover and is now in the process of detailng the changes that John needs to make to get it into production.
HOPEFULLY we will soon have a good quality option to the Omega.
Breaking news on crank trigger ignition.
Re: Breaking news on crank trigger ignition.
I have been using a couple of Silent Hektik ignitions for about twelve years and thousands of miles.
Their performance and quality has never been in question. It appears now that they can't be surpassed, either.

Cheers,

+1 for the silent hektik. But ouch for the price. I'm currently using silent hektik on the 1070 and a basic Boyer on the R90/6.

That's what happens to your frame if you use too much Rub 'n' Buff on it.r90s wrote:I have been using a couple of Silent Hektik ignitions for about twelve years and thousands of miles.

Yeah, the price.
You get the ignition module with a selection of advance curves and a multi-firing spark signal, the plug wires, and the coils when you buy the system.
The coils are not discussed much, but in a twin-plug system deliver a aligned-polarity charge to the firing cylinder, which is not the case with other brands.
It's worth the money.

Most dual output coils are wired like thisMajor Softie wrote:Huh?r90s wrote:The coils are not discussed much, but in a twin-plug system deliver a aligned-polarity charge to the firing cylinder, which is not the case with other brands.

and fire + to - on one plug and - to + on the other plug. Apperantly SH ciols are wired so that both plugs fire from + to -.

Re: Breaking news on crank trigger ignition.
This fault has been reported before some years ago. On that occasion it was said that the problems could be overcome by reversing the current flow through the alternator rotor (don't ask me why!) This isn't difficult (but don't just reverse the connections on the brushes... that won't work).Garnet wrote:I just bought a set of Wixom bags from a chap with a couple of airhead projects on the go.
