1992 R100R

Post by Frog »

I'm regretfully selling my 1992 BMW R100R. A true "rider", that's always ready to go at the turn of a key, this bike has been a blast to own and ride. As one of my friends recently put it, "It's like a Ducati Monster with a 1000cc airhead motor shoved into it! I can't believe how much fun it is!"

I purchased the bike on January 4th, 2007 with 87k miles.  It's been extremely well maintained and cared for since I've owned it and before. I do a lot of work myself as I own several older BMW motorcycles and it's more than just a hobby. I'm very passionate about good engineering, optimizing how a motorcycle functions and the details. Why am I selling? Two words. New baby. Any easy decision.

Some History: The bike was originally purchased from California BMW in Mountain View, CA.  It was diligently dealer maintained up to ~72k miles.  The dealer service stamps are even in the service history booklet that comes with the bike. California BMW also provided me with all of their receipts for major services completed over the years past.  Like with all my vehicles, I kept an accurate log of the work that I did.

In no particular order; here is a list of things that have been done to the bike during it's chapter with me. I have all the receipts for the work and I also have a ton of digital pictures of each job.

Cylinder Heads Rebuilt
Carburetors Rebuilt
Tarozzi Clip-On handlebars
Custom Rear Sets
Custom Exhaust Hanger
Transmission Pawl Spring Replaced
Driveshaft Rebuilt including Polyurethane Damper and Grease Fitting installed at universal joints - the last driveshaft this bike will need
New Timing Chain, Tensioner and both Sprockets
New Seat Cover
Paralever Pivot Bearings upgraded to Bronze Bushings - one of the few weaknesses of the bike made bullet proof
New Steering Head Bearings
Front Fork Rebuild
Rear Fox "Twin Clicker" Shock (rebuilt by Fox)
New Drive Shaft Boot
New Center Stand Bushings
New Ferodo Rear Brake Shoes
New Clutch Cable
New Wiring Harness
New Ignition Switch
New Ignition Hall Sensor
New Ignition Control Module
New Ignition Coil
New Charging System Rotor
New Starter

I have done everything that needed any mechanical attention and the pictures speak for themselves regarding cosmetic condition. It's not perfect but it's really nice. The bike is fresh. I have also made sure that the bike runs and handles perfectly. I'm asking good money but this bike is worth it. Feel free to contact me with questions or if you'd like to see the bike in person.

Here are some more photos of the bike:
