On pages 24 to 28 of this EME Enduraspark installation manual: http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/v/vspf ... ation1.pdf there is a good explaination of all the different advance curves that are found on airheads. Also some good fine tuning advice.

Guess the Enduralast electronic ignition only works with the Enduralast alternator set up...hmmm...I'm just mulling that over now re: Enduralast system. Maybe if really good this year and Santa is listening....
Friend just installed a Enduralast sysyem this summer on his PD and loves it. O well, I seem to make out OK with just 280watts in the cooler weather i.e. heated vest, heated grips (snowmobile stye ones - they consume less watts then the BMW overpriced grips) Just got to turn things off in town I find and we're good to go. Mind you my friend with the PD runs his heated jacket liner, heated grips and runs his big 55w driving lights as well with the Enduralast but, I say, that's nice, but you really need all that shit going at once?? I guess it's like the Peter Principle....if have big wattage output then "it will be used"!
This is good article re: fine tuning the timing. I put on a Omega style electronic ignition unit on my 77RS ...while it seems to purr a lot better at idle I'm not sure about the final advance setting yet and this info helps a lot with the finetuning...when the weather wrms up.

There is a rumor that there is an EnduraSpark comeing for the Bosch alternator as well. It uses an optic pickup rather than the magnetic one in use now.
BTW Moosehead, you bought your ignition from Ulis did you not? How did that work out?

Garnet, yeah the unit I installed was a Ulis unit. I bought it off fellow in Ottawa via Kijiji so saved a few bucks. Instal was pretty straight forward. Still need to dial in/check timing. Not done that yet. Its just at "factory setting" for now. Only comment have so far is it seems to idle smoother but that could be my imagination right now. Runs up the revs nicely. My buddy may be over this weekend and we'll put his strobe on it to see where we are re: timing etc.
Hard to compare as the stock mechanical points were pretty damn smooth and had timing dead nuts on on the RS .
I really picked up the electronic ignition system for another project been working on (78R100/7 basket case) which had a real screwed up advance unit (have to trash and looking for replacement) and will probably eventually put this unit on that bike. But for now, just want to see what effect it makes on the RS.

Very similar to Omega system. Instructions I got were all German so got friend to give it to me in English. Fine tuning similar to Omega in getting F marks centered at 3000rpm. Need strong pair of glasses to see the friggin pot hole adjustment screw! Only difference from Omega is the larger black box processor.
