A year ago, I rode my '94 R100 Mystic to NH from NJ. After stopping to visit a friend, it cranked over slowly, but started. Again, after a brief shopping stop, it started slowly. Preparing for my ride home, it wouldn't turn over at all. I bump started the bike and rode it home to NJ. Took out the old started and found the typical magnet shift problem. Bought a new Valeo with the updated design from Euro MotoElectrics with the "magnet retention spring clips".

no problems since.

A switch to the battery from my RS made the difference. Now the hard part comes: hashing out the return of the battery with the company I bought it from.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Robert, good call on the grounding of the case. I thought I had scraped the mounting ears clean after I painted it but most likely not enough. They are now silver-metal clean.

Thanks

Electrical things sometimes find their way from - to + the easiest way, but not always the best way.

Why can't electrics be more like a man? - I hope Rex Harrison will pardon me changing his line.

Chuey,
I'm with testing before spending any money. Have you tried jump starting the bike to determine if the problem is the battery or starter? Do you know what the compression on the bike is? Does the bike turn over faster when its warm?
