r1200 solo seat on /5

Post by cncltd1973 »

Has anyone retro fitted more recent bmw seats onto the /5? These specific examples come from the 2000 r1200. I'm sure I'll have to make a custom adaptor, but I'm very tempted. The rear passenger seat has a cafe look, and a roundel on the rear. The tall comfort seat looks like it would fit the style also, kind of a throwback to the /2. I've been looking at the stock police seats for the /5 also. Any opinions?

Do you have the seats? Of course it can be done. The main issue is width at the narrowist and widest point relative to the /5 subframe. If you need to make major modifications to the subframe it may not be worth the time.
I like the two piece seat idea.

I think the narrowness at the nose is the most difficult hurdle.

It's always difficult to hurdle a narrow nose, eh ?

Get the word out. Nose Hurdling - the next big thing.
