blinker light color
Here's probably an easy one for you guys. The generator light on the headlight shell. I have at least 2 different colors. I have green, red, and maybe even orange. I don't know why I have all these different colors but what color is it supposed to be? Oh, this is for a 1973 R75/5.

Re: Generator light color
The gen light was red, nuetral was green, oil was yellow and high beam was blue originaly and all where in the speedo. The green light on the h/lamp shell is the turn signal.

Oh, haha ok. I don't know where I got the idea that was a generator light. So, I will install the green lens. Thanks.

Whats kind of weird is if the turn signal lens/light is supposed to be green, what's the deal with the red and orange light lenses I have. They are all identical to the green one.

There's a 1972 SWB R60/5 in my shop right now...it has an ORANGE turn signal lens in the bucket to the left of the speedo/tach. Max's parts fiche seems to suggest that orange is correct...for what that's worth.x1Buellist wrote:Whats kind of weird is if the turn signal lens/light is supposed to be green, what's the deal with the red and orange light lenses I have. I've owned two 1972s and they where both green.

Haha I will take note of that rule. I also see that the R69 had a red lens so that explains the existence of all 3 colors.Garnet wrote:I've owned two 1972s and they where both green.

One must specify the lights in the speedo unit, or the light that is directly mounted in a hole all by itself in the shell. I assumed that you meant the light outside of the speedo unit. Those are far more difficult to know, since they changed them over the years. They even changed which light was on the right or left. I have now forgotten which was where and when.

Not only did they switch colors and which was where...apparently, some only have one on the left...some have one on the left and one on the right. The 60/5 in my shop only has one on the left.Duane Ausherman wrote:One must specify the lights in the speedo unit, or the light that is directly mounted in a hole all by itself in the shell.
