Looking to replace the shocks on my R75/7. Anybody got any experience with these shocks?

Been looking at Ikons and Hagons, but was curious about these units from Bobs. I like the stock look and the price, however quality and performance is unknown...

Re: Bob's Replica Shocks
No experience, just my usual cynicism:
Likely these repros will perform on some kind of a parity with Ikons, Hagons,
or any other damper that was designed and engineered 35 years ago,
then re-manufactured, at best, to those same antique specifications and standards as the originals,
with the sole intention of satisfying nostalgic (if technologically uninformed) suspension appetites.
But then these particular repop-shocks will be copies of the OEM Boges ...
and the originals were junk even in their day. (MNSHO)

A highly critical, yet entirely accurate assessment.vanzen@rockerboxer.com wrote:No experience, just my usual cynicism:

In the day, BMW's were considered to have the finest (touring) front suspension in the world. Such praise was never lavished on the performance of the rear suspension, even though the Japanese bikes were usually wearing something even worse. Konis were a tremendous upgrade from the Boges, and I'm afraid it's actually been more than 40 years since those Konis were designed. Once you've ridden on good modern suspension, it's really hard to go back, especially since modern suspension IS available for these bikes. It's not cheap, but then, neither are good tires . . . or BMW's.

Re: Bob's Replica Shocks
I have fully valanced Hagon's on my R75/5, they seem fine (I do not ride hard) but the covers rattle over bumps. Other than that I am happy with them.

Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting... I have done a good bit of web searching, but can find no one who's even using Bob's; guess that alone gives me an answer.
