Maybe someone is looking for one, I have no idea whether this is a good value though

Such a deal! It's too bad it was stored with the valve covers off, though...

There is no such BMW model called a "Toaster," unless you consider a chrome tank ornament that significant. :ugeek:

There is no BMW model called a "Cafe" either, but it is just as senseless wasting time arguing that there's no such thing - because there is.

Why don't you go on a crusade saving all the poor bastards being sold "VW Bugs" and straighten out the world and get them to all start calling them "Type 1's." Why waste your time on the small stuff? There's 100's of millions out there that need to be straightened out on this "Bug" thing.

"Cafe" is a motorcycle style that can be used as description. Calling a Beemer a Toaster is silly because the only thing different about the bike is a tank ornament. There is nothing else different.

I'm not a car guy. For me a car is like a toaster. A bread toaster. Then add in their major flaw, that they lean the wrong way in a curve, and my indifference becomes profound.

And what Softie....Pet peeves related to Airheads are unacceptable fodder for discussion?

I was basically absent from the motorcycle world for some 20 years. When I returned in about 1995 I found this "toaster" term. I had no clue as to what was going on. When I discovered that it meant that useless piece of chrome and that people wanted it, I was shocked. Back in the day we hated those silly chrome panels and the smaller fuel capacity. It was very rare for anybody to come into my dealership and comment favorably on the new chrome tank.

That was why I got in the business of providing the glue on rubber knee pads and also the larger tanks. Once again that put my dealership on top of the national BMW scene.

Stupid me, when I sold my shop I walked away from 6-8 inch high stacks of chrome panels and at least 30 NOS small tanks.

Hey 4 valve!

You didn't have to change the subject line. Ranting about the trivialities of Airhead culture is a speciality here! We even let those down under, up and over :D

And posting available Airheads for sale is always welcome...thanx!

Yes, although ZM is not alone on his mission, the huge majority of Airhead persona recognize those bikes as "Toasters," regardless of what their manufacturer may have called them.
