R100RS Bars

Does anyone have information on higher/wider handlebars for a R100RS. I love my RS, It's the BMW I always
wanted to own From the first time I saw one around 1979. BUT, I am starting to think that my age is on the wrong side of the curve.

K1, 65LS or 100S bars do the job...from memory....oh, and the K75s bars. Unsure re: the 100S bars now.

I guess that my age was on the wrong side of the curve when they first came out. That is my new excuse and I am sticking to it.

Bob, I fitted a pair of K75s bars at one point which was popular opinion. For me it moved the stress from my wrists to my elbows. They were sold w/ my K but I was thinking of giving it a go one more time ,as per my FM ad, in conjunction w/ barbacks...

I've come to the conclusion, & believe me I've pondered this overly, that it isn't age or fitness related but,rather, body proportion. Riders w/ longer legs,taller, seem to be a better fit to the geometry. I am decidedly not one of them!

It's a shame because @ 20 miles in to a ride I'm ready to be done; Pearl is essentially eye candy. My /7, I purely hate for the ride to end!!

Recently, w/ all the upgrade$, I've been considering the RS to RT conversion...

As an afterthought, & this is where I began, have you tried rotating the bars upward?

Irz, did you try a RT yet? I found it so boring that my free RT from BMW I gave to the local dealer to use for test rides.

I used K75S bars. Same pullback, 2" higher, about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" wider (3/4" per side).
They were an improvement. Close but no cigar.
I now have an S fairing with S bars. Much better.

I thought you put the RS fairing back on.......... or was that on the alternate forum?

I did. Rode it for 2 weeks and realized I was right to have changed to the S in the first place.

Also I wanted to be sure I had all the RS stuff sorted because, if I sell the bike, I think it will fetch more $$$ as an RS.
OK now I have got to change my signature line.

good question. Yes, but not for any length of time. However, the geometry seemed well suited to me. I do know what you mean, riding around behind a windshield is a bit odd.

Coincidentally, I just came in from the garage where I had the bars waiting to be reinstalled after adjusting front end sag last week. I waited because I knew there would be some fiddling around. The bars are now turned upward and perches adjusted as far as the fairing will allow. It all comes back to that fairing...

So, tomorrow we'll see.

I've used R100S bars for years but with the added enhancement of "bar-baks". I also use a longer bolt with washer "shims" in the fork stop. The down side is a shorter turning radius at slow speeds. The up side is, of course, relief for old backs.
