Bosch starter motor

Post by ME 109 »

I just told someone that a bosch 9 tooth was for 81 onwards, up to 95. And that prior to 81 they were the same starter, but with 7 teeth.

Did I get it right?

Thanks.

From what I can find looking at Motobins and Munich Motorcycles, a 9 tooth bosch starter will fit 77 to 87
Apparently a valeo from 88 onwards.
Prior to 77 must have been the 7 tooth.......

Had a bit more of a looky see on that link Steve and it appears there were no 7 yeller country teef starters. 8 or 9 teef
8 teef up to 77, 9 teef after that. And it seems the bosch 9 toof will fit up to 95.

Before ordering any starters for a bike in the 76/75 time period, count the teeth on the flywheel, to make sure you get the right starter. Both 8 and 9 tooth valeos are available from EME, swift postage and a sensible customs valuation.
