ATE Caliper rattle
Am I alone in finding my front pads clanking and rattling on the ATE font callipers? I will say now I have only done 200 miles on my 78 R80/7 and the pads are new but it sounds like something cant be right, can it? The metal post on the back of the pads which locates into the piston seems a very loose fit , should there be an o ring or something in there to stop that? The pads which I replaced are just the same so I cant blame that. Need some R series owners to advise please .

Re: ATE Caliper rattle
An o ring does go on the puck side and a simple spring holes the other side
all parts maybe loose or worn

There's also a hard plastic puck on the lower side of the caliper that allows it to slide in/out as necessary. Could be that's missing as well.

Apologies for the late reply, but thanks guys, will check for those things this week !

Might consider measuring the piston vs it's bore for spec, too.
23 years of road grime, rust, perhaps neglect,
and regular braking service might have caused a bit of wear.
