Grooved brake shoes?

You can cut diagonal grooves with a hacksaw very easily. A few! maybe 3.
An Old-time trick to "help" shed water when the drum gets wet.
While you are messing with the shoes, file a bevel on the leading edges to prevent chatter.

Yup.
Did all that. But just 2 grooves. Three is probably better.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.
