1978 R80/7 toolbox case

Post by shakyone »

My toolbox keeps slipping off the centerpost of the frame onto my battery. Was there originally a cap on this center tube of the frame which lengthened the tube it a bit?

Thanks,

Paul

No cap on the center tube. Do you have the rubber tubing on the upper lip of the toolbox? I think that is what creates some resistance for the toolbox to slip. I don't have any problems on my '78 R100/7.

Thanks! I don't have any rubber tubing on the case. I will fix that.

doesnt the tool box suppose to rest on the centre tube and part of the rear subframe to hold it in position and the rubber ring preloads it onto place , id have a look at mine (R90) but the BM is at the specialist/doctor but im not sure if the R80 is the same as the R90,
