spark plug hole stripped

I stripped the spark plug threads on my bmw r75/5. i noticed that there are aluminum shards in the cylinder core. Now does the motor have to be top dead center when i remove the cylinder head or can i just remove as is. I dont want to damage the cylinder core

The motor does not need to be at top dead center. Just remove the heads and vacuum out rany aluminum shards.
