Well, that's what you get for having an oil pressure gauge She'llbe!

Glad you made it back home to ponder the problem and I look forward to hearing about what you find.

cheers

I looked down and the oil pressure gauge showed that my pressure was dropping rapidly. I haven't had a chance to look at what was happening, but hope to have a look, see this weekend. I'm glad I got a bit of a ride in before it happened. The road to the cairn was hard on my old bike.

Other than the gauge, was it working ok? Might it have just been a fault with the gauge? Hope so.

Sounds like a thoroughly eventful outing guys!
Buzz: thanks for the pics. Looks like you had a 'classic' boxerworks-style, dirty road centric, ride home - quality. (Did you catch or miss that storm over the horizon?) I hope we might catch up one day.
Steve: well done to manage the long run home in less than optimum conditions - yeah, trust Melbourne to put on a damp welcome home!
She'llbe: jeez! major oil pressure drop. what the heck does that mean? non-return spring breakage? big end bearing collapse? were there any other symptoms, noises etc? wise decision to 'truck' it back home me thinks.
I sort of feel a little relieved i didn't go - anything could of happened to my scoot, and probably would have...
Mal: thanks for the /5 pics - now that's a real serious outback tourer!
Maybe next year...

Well, It's time that I reported in isn't it.
I've had a great time riding and catching up with mates at the gathering, since then I've spent a few days
at Tullamore then a couple of days zig zaging up to Barraba and now I'm in the Hunter Valley.
Gary and I met up at Warren, amazingly we were only about 15mins apart, and had a nice ride down to the
gathering. Mall not only helped me set up my tent but also took grog orders and set this up.

Thanks heaps Mall.
Here's a couple of shots on Sunday morning.

On Sunday arvo She'llby and I went to the Far Cairn in company with another bloke called Peter.

A shot of what the Far Cairn is all about.

To Jeff, Pete, Charlie and those that could'nt make it, missed you but we'll catch up on another run soon.
Gary, Nice to meet you. She'llby, hope your bike ok, maybe just big ends, Steve, just the pressure switch huh,
nice to catch up, Nice to catch up with you to Mall.

Thanks Pete
Yes a very enjoyable ride down & back. I was trying to avoid the storm from about Texas. I had a few changes in direction but it finally caught me at Killarney but fortunately I seemed to be just behind it and missed most of it.

A good catch up at Warren. Nice to ride with you for that bit.

A few of us from South East Qld are heading to Ashford (NSW) Pub for a weekender on the 13/14 October.

Started the bike up the other day and had 450kpa/60psi cold. Still hear a rattle at revs. Working my ring off at the moment so time for the bike is limited. I'll keep you up to date as time allows.
