I'm going to the Dark Side

Post by Steve in Golden »

All these years, I've been paying top dollar for motorcycle tires for my motorcycle. Now it turns out, I could have just been using car tires. Much cheaper and last much longer, why the hell not? I'm tired of paying $400 every time I need tires for my MC, after only about 7K miles or so. What a rip! I will now be expecting to get at least 50,000 miles out of my MC tires.

I'm going to the "dark side". :D

Car tires on motorcycles actually have made sense to me in one circumstance, and ONLY one circumstance: hacks. Near as I can tell, the forces on a hack tire are about the same as on a car tire and very unlike the forces on a conventional motorcycle tire.

True, that. Interestingly, when a guy I know tried to get a Chang Jiang with a sidecar inspected here on the island, they required him to replace the sidecar specific tires that came with it to regular motorcycle tires... idiots!
