Re: r65 sidestand pictures hopefully
derek1922, If you haven't found out how to hook the springs, I have been in contact with an R65 owner and we may be able to get some real pictures soon. Do not give up.
Sometimes it takes some looking around to FIND an R65!!

Re: r65 sidestand
My 1981 R100RS has a similar arrangement.
Cast into the rear engine mount about 1.5 inches forward and 1.5
inches above the centrestand pivot there is a pin cast into the
engine mount(on the inside).

Re: r65 sidestand
I was always under the impression that the spring linkages on the '78-'80 R65/45 were different than the '81-'84 (Nikasil, etc.).
But I've never had a 2nd generation frame to examine, so I can't really say what your '81 needs.
Given that, here are some pictures Jean asked me to host for her.
They have hardware just like my '79.

This is a detail shot of my '79:

Re: r65 sidestand
I've added a couple of pictures I had on file to that picture folder.
This should help, too. I just went out to the garage and took this picture of my '79 frame.
If you have these tangs, you can use the "keyholed" pieces.
These are what the keyhole slips over and rotates on.

Don't you love it when I stay up late on the first "night" of my "weekend"?

Re: thanks Rob.
Rob, if you haven't SEEN an R65 centerstand mounted using those tiny tits, I think you'd not SEE them.
Hope this gets Derek moving along, again.

Re: r65 sidestand
that's good news, Derek. At least your frame wasn't modified so the tiny tits were missing, or sorse!
THANKS for letting us know you were successful with the job after we found the info.
